Introduction

CampusImpact (‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’, etc.) respects the right of individuals to protect their personal data.

This data protection policy gives you information about how CampusImpact manages Personal Data which is subject to the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (No. 26 of 2012) (“the Act”).

Please take a moment to read this Data Protection Policy so that you know how we collect, use and disclose personal data about you while recognising both your right to protect personal data about you and our need to collect, use or disclose it for purposes that we believe are reasonable and appropriate in the circumstances of our charitable work.

It applies to the personal data of all individuals (‘you’, ‘your’, etc.) who are our [service users/clients/beneficiaries], donors to us, our employees, including volunteers, and online users of our website. [For our [service users/clients/beneficiaries], ‘you’, ‘your’, etc. also includes [a parent or parents, a legally-Appointed guardian and another caregiver]/[a done under a Lasting Power of Attorney, a Court-Appointed Deputy and another caregiver] who takes responsibility for the [service user’s/client’s/beneficiary’s] welfare.

If you are not in any of these categories but we collect, use or disclose personal data about you in the course of our charitable work this data protection policy will apply to that personal data consistently with the way in which it applies to the above individuals.

By interacting with us, submitting information to us, or signing up for any services or events offered by us, you agree and consent to CampusImpact as well as our representatives and/or agents (collectively referred to herein as “CampusImpact”, “us”, “we”, or “our”) collecting, using, disclosing and sharing amongst themselves your Personal Data and disclosing such Personal Data to the Entities’ authorised service providers and relevant third parties (e.g. Schools, Family Service Centres, Social Service Offices, Government Agencies) in the manner set forth in this Data Protection Policy.

This Data Protection Policy supplements but does not supersede nor replace any other consents you may have previously provided to CampusImpact in respect of your Personal Data and your consents herein are additional to any rights which any of the Entities may have at law to collect, use or disclose your Personal Data.

CampusImpact may from time to time update this Data Protection Policy to ensure that this Data Protection Policy is consistent with our future developments and/or any changes in legal or regulatory requirements. Subject to your rights at law, you agree to be bound by the prevailing terms of this Data Protection Policy as updated from time to time on our website at www.childrensociety.org.sg. Please check back regularly for updated information on the handling of your Personal Data.


Personal Data

“Personal Data” refers to any data, whether true or not, about an individual who can be identified (a) from that data; or (b) from that data and other information to which we have or are likely to have access, including data in our records as may be updated from time to time.

Examples of such Personal Data you may provide to us include (depending on the nature of your interaction with us) your name, NRIC, passport or other identification number, telephone number(s), mailing address, email address and any other information relating to any individuals which you have provided us in any forms you may have submitted to us, or via other forms of interaction with you.


Collection of Personal Data

We collect Personal Data in the following ways:

  • When you submit an application form or registration form, or other forms relating to any of our services or events;
  • When you enter into any agreement or provide other documentation or information in respect of your interactions with us, or when you use our services or participate in our events;
  • When you interact with our employees or volunteers, for example, via telephone calls, letters, face-to-face meetings, social media platforms and emails;
  • When you use our electronic services, or interact with us via any of our websites or use services on any of our websites;
  • When you request that we contact you or request that you be included in an email or other mailing list;
  • When you respond to our campaigns, initiatives or to any request for additional Personal Data;
  • When you submit an employment application or when you provide documents or information including your resume and/or CVs in connection with any appointment as an officer, member, representative or any other position;
  • When your images are captured by us via CCTV cameras while you are within our premises, or via photographs or videos taken by us or our representatives when you attend our events;
  • When you are contacted by, and respond to, our employees or volunteers;
  • When we receive references from partners and third parties, for example, where you have been referred by them;
  • When you fill up our surveys;
  • When we seek information from third parties about you in connection with the services you have applied for; and/or
  • When you submit your Personal Data to us for any other reason.


Purposes for Us Collecting, Using or Disclosing Personal Data

We collect personal data from or about our [clients/beneficiaries] [and our potential clients/beneficiaries] and from our donors, employees and other individuals. We use and/or disclose that personal data so that we are able to provide our services for the following purposes:

  • Responding to your queries, feedback, complaints, and requests
  • Verifying your identity
  • Process applications for rebates, subsidies or financial assistance relating to our events and/or services
  • Send out newsletters and/or other relevant information to stakeholders who are interested in our events and services
  • Process applications for registration of our events and/or services
  • Process referrals or enquiries relating to our services
  • Managing the administrative and business operations of CampusImpact and complying with internal policies and procedures;
  • Requesting feedback or participation in surveys, as well as conducting research and analysis for statistical, profiling or other purposes for us to review, develop and improve the quality of our services
  • Managing the safety and security of our premises, services and events (including but not limited to carrying out CCTV surveillance and conducting security clearances)
  • Meeting or complying with any applicable rules, laws, regulations, codes of practice of guidelines issued by any legal or regulatory bodies which are binding on CampusImpact (including but not limited to responding to regulatory complaints, disclosing to regulatory bodies and conducting audit checks, due diligence and investigations)
  • Any other purpose reasonably related to the aforesaid.


Use of Cookies

A cookie is information that a website puts on your hard disk so that it can remember something about you at a later time. Cookies are stored as text files on your hard disk so servers can access them when you return to websites you've visited before. Cookies cannot access, read or modify any other data on your device, nor does it capture any data which allows us to identify you individually. All web-browsers offer the option to refuse any cookie, and if you refuse our cookie, we do not gather any information on that visit. However, you may not be able to enter certain part(s) of our website.


Withdrawal of Consent

On giving us reasonable notice, you may at any time withdraw any consent you have given, or are deemed to have been given, to us collecting, using or disclosing personal data about you for any purpose. Any notice of withdrawal of consent should be given in writing (which includes email) sent to our Data Protection Officer at hello@campusimpact.org.sg.

The consequences of you withdrawing consent may be onerous, and we will inform you in writing of the likely consequences.


Access to Personal Data and Information About Use

On request by you, we will as soon as reasonably possible provide you with:

  • Personal data about you that is in our possession or under our control
  • Information about the ways in which we have, or may have, used or disclosed that personal data within a year before the date of your request.


Correction of Errors in Personal Data

You may request us to correct an error or omission in the personal data about you that we hold or control. Your request should be made in writing to our Data Protection Officer. We may require you to provide supporting documents.


Protection of Personal Data

We take reasonable steps to ensure the security of personal data about you and protect it from loss or unauthorised access. Only authorised personnel are permitted to access personal data about you.


Retention of Personal Data

We cease to retain documents containing personal data about you once it is no longer necessary for legal or business purposes.


Complaints Procedure

If you have any complaints regarding how we collect, use or disclose your personal data, please direct them to our Data Protection Officer. Our Data Protection Officer will investigate and respond within two business days.


Do-Not-Call (DNC) Provisions

Please note that we do not engage in telemarketing activities, so we are not subjected to the DNC rules.


Changes to This Data Protection Policy

We reserve the right to review, amend and/or update this data protection policy at any time.
